What are the good suburbs around Cheltenham, Melbourne?

I got a job in Cheltenham; therefore, looking to rent nearby (I can drive upto 30 mins to work) where Public schools should be reputed as well. My son will go to grade 5 next year in Feb. What if I want to buy a property nearby? Aah yes, good internet is also necessary. Please, suggest as necessary.

    Ok - Forget Noble Park & Footscray!

    Near Cheltenham

    - Mentone

    - Highet

    - Parkdale

    - Sandringham

    - Beaumaris

    - McKinnon

    - Brighton

    - Bentleigh

    Beach side of Nepean Highway is very nice but more expensive
