Why can't I change the AC on my 2012 Chevy Malibu LT? It won't get off of the vent mode?

I used the outside air button on my AC panel to ventilate my car. The button has a light on it indicating that it is activated. Now the light won't go off since I want it switched to inside air circulation. Whether I hit the inside air button to activate that instead, or press the outside air button to turn it off or mess with the dials to make it turn off, nothing will make the light go off. I've adjusted the dial of the fan control (speed). I have tried turning on the Air Conditioning button, the light for that comes on while the vent/outside air button's light is still on. And if I press the recirculation button the light flashes 3 times and stays off and the vent's light stays lit. How can I turn this function off to go back to recirculation?

IF the light flashes when you hit the recirculate button, we know the button itself is OK. The system is trying to tell you something else is wrong that prevents switching to recirculate mode. The diverters that have to move to make the change could be jammed. Another possible cause is that the vacuum lines that actually control the diverters are either blocked, or not holding a vacuum.
