Ya know what happens They get a Judgement against you .So if you ever "came up" like won the freaking lotto .That judgement will be paid first before you even If you have no real assets Then it really depends on the state laws where you live Most states have insurance laws If it is your first time being caught with no Insurance Then no jail time usually .@,3,4 and so on .Sure i think then you would go to jail .Having insurance even after the fact To prove that your now driving covered .Will actually or maybe could even help you some Dont dodge the court dates You dont loose your License on the first offense but again state law where you live matter most But if you have zero assets then again hard to say what can be done Look up your state laws

Doesn't matter if you have assets or not. Anyone can find a lawyer that is willing to take on the case and sue you. I have seen it first hand as an insurance agent. As someone stated, they can in fact tack a debt to your record and once you aquire money you will have to give a certain percentage to the plantiff until all debts are paid. Also, don't forget you will have to find a way to defend yourself when someone sues, can't do anything about it. Defending yourself costs money, otherwise you can kiss your future income goodbye trying to represent yourself.

The truth is you will never be taken to jail or face any criminal penalties. This will be a civil case and company will try go after you for money. They'll try find out your employer to garnish your wages, that's if you have one.

They'll ty for years for may not be successful. I am telling you from personal experience. I sued a hit and run driver and nothing came out of the matter because she's unemployed and a troubled person. Geico tried recovering money for years. The case has been passed on to another company.

    You'll be just fine!

They can attach a debt that will stay with you for a long long time. You may not have a job now, but you'll probably have a source of income at some point in your life. They'll just wait until you do have money coming in, and then they'll take a court-ordered piece of your wages. You'll be left with enough to survive, but not much more.

that's why you always have insurance. You're going to have to pay for the other person car damages. If it's a big accident expect a 5 grand or more. They will sue you poor if they have to because they are getting nothing in return for an accident that wasn't their fault.

    1. Jail and a criminal record as driving without insurance is a criminal offence.

2 A good beating or worse (maybe the victim will take out a "hit" on you).

3 A civil debt which will be recovered from you when you do have some money.

Suspend your driving license, attach your wages and bank accounts. A civil judgement last for 10 years and then can be renewed for an additional 10. If you plan on having anything in the next 20 years it will be subject to the judgement.

In Colorado, nothing! Someone like that caused a 5 car pileup that I was involved in, total loss. My insurance paid. Her's didn't.

    Your car, definitely.

Your freedom, probably. Depending on the state, the police may be able to arrest just for driving without insurance. In nearly all states, they can take away your license and give you a big fine for driving without insurance, and if you don't pay the fine, then you can be arrested for that.

In the US, in most (if not all) states, it is the law for drivers to have insurance. So if that is the guess, you would likely get a fine, which you can't pay, so you would end up serving a little bit of time in jail.

Also, they can still order a judgement against you to pay for any damage so if you happen to get money in the future, you still have to pay for your responsibilities.
