Can I play Xbox Live on Xbox One if I purchased a membership for Xbox 360?

I am just getting an Xbox one, and I have 9 months of membership on my Xbox 360. On Xbox one, If I sign into my Xbox live account that I used on Xbox 360, will I still have those 9 months of membership? Or do I have to buy separate membership to play on xbox one? I don't want those 9 months I paid an arm and a leg for to go to waste and I'm kinda a noob in gaming so idk how it works. Thanks!!

As long as you use the same Xbox Live account, the Gold time will remain with your account whether you are using the account on an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One.
