Why were games so much better when I was little? I've never enjoyed a game more than when I played Zelda: Ocarina of Time about 20 years ago?

It has happened to me too, I remember playing games like Super Mario Bros, Zelda, even Pacman and I have enjoyed them so much, as time passed, games were developing quite fast, all games had better graphics, better quests, etc...but also, I realized I wasn't enjoying them as much as before so it is very interest another person was also wondering the same.

I came to the conclusion that it was not that tgames were better back then, but it was just me that I was enjoying life more than I enjoyed games, and even if that was not true, I noticed that every time I turn off my computer after a long session of gaming, I realize that that is it, there is no more to it, it ends when I turn off the computer, so it is not as satisfying as it was before when I was young (back when I did not "think" alot). Now I only play games when I have absolutely nothing to do and do not feel like moving or using my brain. Just something to do to kill time.

I don't know why that is. This is all I can think of:

Back then games weren't that popular, so you didn't have to "try hard" to entertain people. Now there are so many games that it is hard to come up with an original idea so the games get "boring". Plus it's what you grew up on so it's always fun to go back to your roots.

Personally I grew up in the 2000's so I am used to the "newer" games, but I do remember the computers that only had the pinball game on them. That was fun for that time, but now it is kind of a boring game. (still fun to go back and play it every once in a while)

    Its subjective.

Games in the past focused on gameplay over story because there wasn't room to make a good story. There were no cinematics and the graphics weren't great so to make a good game, the game had to be... good. Since video gaming was a new industry, bringing something new to the table was exciting. Most of the good ideas these days have already been used so it's hard to find good innovation

I enjoy a lot of old school games, nowadays Nintendo's not making a lot of great games anymore.

But there's still good ones like Splatoon or Mario Maker. But those good games come rarely now.

    1. You had experienced less when you were little.

    2. The gaming market today is oversaturated

    3. Games generally had more heart and ambition put into them, people used to make games THEY enjoyed, now it's all big companies trying to make a quick buck.

It is mostly psychological. Researches have shown that anything you do in your youth will be more pleasing for you than when doing the same things now. Games haven't gotten worse, your thinking that games back then were better.

Do you experience the same thing with sweets it's most likely to do with you getting "sick of it"

Games are just clones of one another anymore
