How will Donald Trump impose Term limits for congress when Congress has to vote on it?

It doesn't seem very likely that they will vote against themselves... btw... I love the Idea. It gives the power back to the American people.

Update:

Isn't anyone else sick of Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell?

While I don't support Trump at all, I do support term limits on Congress. It will require a constitutional amendment. Luckily, Article 5 of the Constitution offers a way for that to happen without Congress getting involved. The legislatures of two thirds of the states can call for a constitutional convention for proposing new amendments.

Most citizens love the idea, regardless of their political affiliation. As you point out, however, this is not something the President just does, it would have to go through Congress, and that would just not get the support needed to be ratified, so it really doesn't matter what Trump or Clinton think about term limits.

The other thing is, no matter how much we favor term limits, and how often people talk about voting out their incumbents, when it gets right down to it, the incumbent wins the election far more often than the opponent. There is a disconnect between what we all say we want, and how we behave when it comes time to cast our ballots.

A Constitutional Amendment can be pushed through circumventing the Congress, though it is a wee bit more difficult.

I read that and almost choked again. He has no idea what he can do as president , he thinks is just like a dictatorship, or a Denny's, he puts in his order and it comes out as he likes it.

Wouldn't term limits affect republicans more than democrats?

It shouldn't be up to congress, it should be up to the American public.

He could try asking President Clinton to do it but other than that I don't know.

Trump will remove term limits, especially for the presidency if somehow he won.
