Idol Worshipers: When you put food and drinks or money or 'gifts' in front of your shrines, do the idols ever consume your sacrifices?

Nah !!! ... generally the neighborhood raccoons devour everything before sunrise.

I don't know how it works for 'idol worshipers'... I don't know any myself.

But In my religion, I know that for those of us who worship Gods and leave them offerings at the shrines we dedicate to them, we don't expect them to 'consume' anything. The Gods are Gods, not humans, lol. Those kinds of offerings are a symbol; a token of respect, honor and gratitude. It is symbolic of willingness to give back after being given so much.

If you are familiar with Christianity or Judaism you should understand this; Yahweh (the Bible God) asks for offerings and sacrifices... no one expected him to show up and chow down on the burnt offerings he requested.

I know Christians have kind of lost their understanding of symbolism... having gotten bogged down and stuck in the myths by taking them literally for so long. But if you understand how it worked up until recent history in the Abrahamic religions, then you can see the connection.

Perhaps it's the same with 'idol worshipers' (though again, I'm Pagan, so I've never met any people worship anyone other than their Gods) .

I have heard that Genesha, the Hindu elephant god, drinks milk, but I have not witnessed it myself.

Christians, Jews and Muslims do not have idols.

The priests consume them before the Gypsies have a chance to steal them..
