bostitch glow sharpener stops right away?
no matter how long the pencil is, the sharpener spins for a second and then stops,as though it detected the pencil reaches the end,and the light comes on. is there a problem with the sensor? tried cleaning the blades but no effect

It could be the sensor. More than likely the overload protection for the motor, or the motor itself. The sensor on most automatic sharpeners is nothing but a limit switch. Those seldom fail, they do, but it's rare. That's why cleaning them usually solves the problem
