My girlfriend is manipulative and a control freak. How to I break up with her?

My girlfriend used to be my best friend and things were very good between us. Then we got into a relationship and things suddenly took a downward turn. She completely changed her behaviour and always fights with me over petty issues. She hates if I dont reply within a minute, hates when I do anything other than talk to her, hates when I talk to my friends any every other small issue. After every fight she tells to break up but if we do the next day she yells and hits me in public and starts crying and plays the victim. That's the reason I convince her not to break up because in the end it's me upon whom the blame would falll. Once we broke up , the next day she didnt talk to anybody, didnt eat anything and cried in front of everyone. She abuses and hits me everytime yet I have never hit her or said anything abusive to her . She abuses and hits and then everytime says she didn't mean it. Please help me. Thank You

Dude! You're 21. You're not in high school anymore. If it's over then tell her "It's over. Get over it. Move on. Leave me alone." If she doesn't understand that then - well, I can't see her not understanding. If she demands "You're NOT leaving me" then I'd say you were never the friends you thought you once were.

21 and you can't handle this on your own? What did you learn in college? Or did you let Internet TV interfere with your plans for a good future?

I just find it hard to be sympathetic with people who make their own misery. You should know better. You should be capable of making good choices. I'm not saying you shouldn't be making mistakes, we ALL make mistakes. All our lives we do. But to let someone dictate our lives? That's just not acceptable.

Gosh you people have put me in a bad mood. And last night was so wonderful, my grand daughter sitting on my lap playing "Tickles and Giggles" with me.

Tell her how you feel she is acting and tell her if she doesn't change you cant stay with her. If you important enough to her she'll change.
