Do dogs go to Heaven? My faith formation teacher said that dogs cannot go to Heaven. My dog died and I want to be sure that he is in Heaven?

Although the Bible is silent on the issue -- I'm Catholic and I believe they will go to heaven.

Dogs have the same breath (literally, spirit) of life like humans do. They're living souls. Read the book of Genesis. (Genesis 7:15)

There were laws in the Old Testament that said if an animal killed or attack another human, it was to be put to death. Both animals and humans faced the same judgement. So, I personally don't believe ALL animals/pets will be in heaven - just like I don't believe ALL humans will be in heaven.

I have loved many animals in my lifetime. Unfortunately, none of them will be in heaven. The animals were not created in the image of God, which does not mean his physical appearance, but rather his makeup which is the body, soul & spirit as it relates to God who is God the Father, God the Son & God the Holy Spirit. Which means they do not have an eternal spirit. Only mankind was created with a spirit. There will be animals in heaven but animals do not ascend.

Tell your teacher that that can't be a matter of Faith either way. When he thinks about it he should see his error.

If heaven existed then yes, they'd go there. Luckily there's no such place.

Dogs cannot go to heaven though humans of course can if they say the rosary! =)
