Harbor Freight tools are fine for those cheap items that may be shared, broken, misplaced, forgotten, stolen, or might otherwise go missing or rendered useless (and that does happen in a shop setting).

Husky and Craftsman both offer a lifetime replacement guarantee. But Husky is a Home Depot (which isn't going away anytime soon) brand, while Craftsman (which used to be *the standard*) is a Sears brand, and Sears is in deep financial trouble and may or may not be around much longer. Husky also offers to replace broken or worn-out Craftsman tools with their own, so there is the promise of a newer and equally-competitive product to consider there.

I'd buy Husky if my living depended on those tools.

I have both.. the old craftsman was darn near bullet proof but this newer stuff is like everything else. I personally have been liking the husky stuff I picked up at home depot. Mind you if you buy cheap tools they really just that cheap tools. Unless you get into craftsman high end stuff it's all made in china. CRAFTSMAN had a name at one point kinda like Dewalt. BUT now it almost doesn't matter. I grabbed a metric and sae set of racheting wrenches made by husky and they are great.

Harbor freight tools are way cheaper and they do the same thing. I've never rounded off any bolt with harbor freight pro series ratcheting wrenches or sockets.

Anything like breaker bars or brake bleeders or other specialty equipment, harbor freight has them half the price youd find elsewhere. Husky and craftsman are okay brands, but they arent top tier like snap-on or matco tools. Husky and craftsman are okay, they get the job done. But there are much cheaper options with the same quality.

I prefer cheap, but I don't make my living with them. Harbor Freight is the way to go for shade tree mechanics.
