What do you think of a guy who broke up with his girlfriend of 5 years after she got diagnosed with a debilitating illness?

Not me, but something I heard of. I can see why the guy wouldnt be equipped to take care of someone who will no longer be able to care for themselves, at the same time I feel it s a horrible to break up with a girl right when her whole world is falling apart.

It's tough to say without knowing the whole story. If things were fine up until the diagnosis, then I would think him quite the asshole. If however (I am using this as just an example), she was a raging ***** to him the whole time they were together and he was just her doormat, this might have been the catalyst for him to realize that she never had anything to offer him and thus not worth the effort to continue the relationship. So, in all, it really just depends.

Unless you are the person standing in that pair of shoes, your opinion and mine do not matter. No one knows what the motivation is, but better to be honest with the person you have been in a relationship with and make a clean break rather than lying or trying to hide one's true feelings and having to experience things going bad over time.
