why do people like tiny dogs?

im not talking about puppies im talking about small breeds

tiny dogs are so annoying. all they do is yap all day. everytime I walk by a yard with a tiny dog all they do is yap yap yap and try to chase after me but then when I turn towards them they get scared and run away but they keep yapping.

and my next door neighbor has 3 each a different breed and they bark all day & night. I don't understand how my neighbors do go crazy hearing that mess all the damn time.

big dogs on the other hand are not annoying. one day I was walking looked up and there was a golden retriever just standing there staring at me and it followed me like a lost puppy until it wondered off.

yes some big dogs bit or bark at strangers but they are more peaceful

I swear everywhere ive ever went where there was a small dog, those things have barked at me and tried to follow/chase me. then even continue barking long after you've walked away and the barks are even cute

I don't understand how people like that....

Update:

just so people out there know, it is possible to physically pick up big dogs too

People like the idea of a little dog, but as you've seen, they often fail to actually train and socialize the dog resulting in an ill-tempered, nippy, fearful yapper. They mistake this behavior for protectiveness and find it endearing, and don't realize their dog is actually a fearful bag of nerves and miserable.

Treating a small-breed domesticated wolf like other domesticated wolves typically avoids these problems. In this case the dog's proper temperament shines. Many of these breeds were bred as companions, but many more were actually bred for a working purpose requiring them to fit into small spaces. Many smaller terriers, for instance, were bred for vermin control.

There's a training issue known as "Small Dog Syndrome." It's named so because it's most commonly seen in small dogs, where owners will tolerate misbehavior they would NEVER tolerate from a larger dog, resulting essentially in an over-indulged, spoiled, out of control little brat of a dog.

I love little dogs! They are so freakin' cute! Tiny dogs can sit next to you on the couch and sit on your lap and you can pick them up and carry them around. Tiny dogs are better for spoiling and are more affectionate towards their owners. When you pick up and hold a tiny dog, you are holding this entire being. There is something magical about that that I can't explain. You are holding its physical being, its personality, its love for you (or fear and anger). It's almost like holding a soul or the entire universe.

The problem is usually with the owner. The owner doesn't put any effort into training their dog or who laugh when the dog is aggressive. Idiots.

I have known tiny dogs who were aggressive or refused to be trained no matter how hard their owners' tried. So many purebreds are inbred and I would blame inbreeding for many of these neurotic, nervous dogs. I knew a German shepherd who was worse than any Chihuahua. My small dogs were always trained and supervised when outside.

Tiny dogs are meant to be loved and not meant to act like little, demonic maniacs.

This is the reason why there are hundreds and hundreds of different breeds of dogs around the world, and the mixes - I can't begin to imagine how many small yappy dogs are being backyard bred and puppy mill produced. Unfortunately, in such cases, stable temperaments and trainability are not things being factored in when breeding decisions are made.

People choose to have the type of dog they like, and can afford to own. Some people like tiny dogs with strong opinions.

Different people like different dogs. I could argue why anyone would like ill bred unstable Pit Bulls/types , Rottweilers, and their mixes given their high human fatality rate from attacks. I could also argue why anyone e would still like Labradors and Golden Retrievers as more BYBs produce mentally unstable pups who can suffer aggression problems. People don't need to justify liking the type of dog that they do.

People find them cute. You can pick them up and treat them like literal babies more easily than you would have been able to do with large dogs.
