Help with algebra problem?

Okay so there are two trucks traveling toward each other. One truck travels at a rate of 55mph and the other travels at 65mph. In total, they both travel 180 miles. How many miles did they each travel? Please set up an equation and solve. How would I be able to solve if a time is not given nor a distance?

    It's the same as if a single truck was traveling 180 miles at 120 mph.

    (55 + 65 = 120)

    180 miles / 120 mph = 1.5 hours

    To do it the longer way, let t be the time in hours.

    First truck --> 55t miles

    Second truck --> 65t miles

    Both trucks:

    55t + 65t = 180

    120t = 180

    t = 180/120

    t = 3/2

    t = 1.5 hours

    Double-check:

    55 mph x 1.5 hours = 82.5 miles

    65 mph x 1.5 hours = 97.5 miles

    Answer:

    1.5 hours

    3 km. Then they collided, got badly busted and couldn't go nowhere no more.
