Is social media toxic to us?
I mean yeah, we can connect with long-distance friends but isn't it sick how we're all so focused on other people's lives and what they have been up to? Why should any of that matter to us? We just open new doors of disappointment after comparing our lives to someone else's. I'm considering deleting all of my social media. I've actually been thinking about this for 3 months now but something's holding me back. My grades have been slacking recently and I feel like I need to permanently cut some ties with the online world and freshen up my real life. Thoughts?

I'm not on social media, never had FB, Insta etc and never will because not only is it bad for self-esteem but it is also a huge waste of time. Most people don't even realize that they spend hours on social media every single day. If we think of it from that perspective, that's already unhealthy. Just like you said, who do we have to prove ourselves to? Bragging, being jealous of others' achievements and other behaviors on social media don't move the world forward for sure.

Unfortunately, social media sometimes feeds it.
