What can I use to replace rear windshield and not get stopped by a cop?

Not sure in your area but in my state the rear window isnt required to operate the vehicle. Heck the front windshield isnt required to operate the vehicle according to our past state inspections we use to have. You just had to wear some sort of goggles if you didnt have a front windshield. You also couldnt have 2 cracks 12" long in the drivers field of view

As handy as they are rear view mirrors are no needed legally if you have both left and right side mirrors. Cover the hole with plexiglass or plastic until you can afford that rear window.

Rear windshields are not required by law. If you have two mirrors you could replace it with plywood and it would be legal.
