bacterial infection help ?

so yeah i have a bacterial infection in my throat and chest . im taking antibiotic and the pain in my chest is hurting less and less . but im still in pain , my doctor says its just the bacteria dying at first i didn't believe him but as the days pass its hurting less and less . but it still hurts my doctor also says once the infection passes it wont hurt anymore but for the time being is there anything i can do to stop the pain or numb the pain tell this infection passes ?
