Intermittent FMLA is it possible?
My son is 6 months old with bad eczema, it just wont go away :(.
He only sleep for 10-15 mins then wakes up crying, scratching, and so on. I work full time and my job starts at 330 in the morning, I have to admit I have called off a few times! Now I barely have points to use. I usually called off because of my sons condition and lack of sleep. I remember coming in to work 2 days in a row with no sleep! Couldn t function well at work I could drink up to 10 cups of coffee a day to stay awake. My son doesn t like my husband so its just me who takes care of him Anyway is there anyway i can have intermittent fmla so i can take care of him on the days that he s eczema is out of control? He started having skin issues as soon as he turned 3 months old. right now I just cant afford to go on consecutive fmla because of financial issue.

FMLA can be intermittent, but it usually must be planned. You would need to talk to your HR department about using it intermittently, and it would be rare that they would allow it as a call-off type situation. You would typically have to provide advance notice and plan which days you are taking. You should definitely get your husband involved in your son's care. It is too easy to make an excuse and not let dad do anything, but you can't do it all yourself. That just won't work in the long term. And if baby has bad eczema, then please see a pediatric dermatologist. It is treatable and you can relieve his misery and yours.

No. FMLA is designed for those who need extended time off. Not those who didnt get enough sleep last night and are too tired to work or dont want to leave their child with another person. Those are not excuses. If your child needed to be hospitalized for treatment you could get FMLA leave. But not intermittently.
If your son is that bad that he cant sleep SEE A DAMN DOCTOR. It could be a sign of a serious condition. If its just bad eczema then TREAT IT.
As for your son not liking your husband thats just too bad. You are going to lose your job if you keep taking time off. Your husband is perfectly capable of caring for Baby. So you are just going to have to get over it. Both of you are.

It may be possible. Ask your HR department.
However, I strongly suggest that you work with your husband to get your son used to him. Figure out how to help and support your husband in taking care of your baby.
Babies have different preferences at different times. How would you feel if your son preferred your husband? Your husband may be feeling rejected right now. Show him what to do and don't interfere. Use the time to get some sleep.
