Do you need mutual consent to get a divorce if you have proven adultery from either side in the state of California?

    You do not need mutual consent to divorce. You can file for divorce for basically any reason if you just file for divorce under irreconcilable differences. In modern times proving adultery is considered a waste of the court's time and legal fees. There is no punishment or advantage by proving adultery as you see in the movies. However, most lawyers will be happy to do it just to get extra money out of you.

    My now wife divorced her first husband. He signed no papers. She was not "forced" to stay in a house with him. You're getting bad information from somewhere!
