Is my 9 month old German shepherd too small ?

He is only 49 pounds yet and 9 months old

    He has 15 more months to grow. Relax.

    Yes he's too small. At 9 months he should have been around 69 lb +-10%, within a range of 62-76 lb.

    Some dogs grow a bit later. Still, I'd be mildly surprised if he, when adult, reaches the minimum of the Breed Standard, 66 lb.

    Please do not try to overfeed the pup. He is what he is, and should be loved irrespective of his weight.

    Maybe he is the runt of the litter. My German Shepherd is 8 and she is 64 lbs. (not to mention she is the smallest of her litter)
