Why is my puppy under weight?
I got my great Pyrenees puppy when he was only 4 weeks old. He was emaciated, had scabies, worms, and only 3 lbs. He s now 3 months, the scabies have cleared, and the worms are gone and he s eating normally. He s only 20 lbs now and I ve read that at three months Pyrenees puppies should be close to 40 lbs. What am I doing wrong?

If the puppy had a poor start in life, fact is he may never achieve his full potential and he may have been the runt in any case. Just keep him on a good quality non cereal-based food, three meals a day and maybe even a late evening one too, for now, and make sure he remains healthy. What he will be, will be. In any case, although I tend to go with the frame being there by around 7 months, in medium to large breed puppies, it may well take him at least up to 2 years before he's fully bodied up. And again he may never be the size he should be for his breed given, again also, his poor start in life. He should have been with mum and siblings for at least 4 more weeks, if not longer.

If you got him from a shelter, they probably castrated him early. That can cause growth disorders. Perhaps, now that the trauma is past, he will catch up. You aren't doing anything wrong.
