Why do people continue to answer question's on here,?

More to the point is why this site makes that possible rather than closing the question. I think it's usually because people don't realise it's already been awarded and because sometimes the questions are more like surveys of people's opinions or views rather than looking for a set answer.

Yahoo Answers allows it that's why.

Back before Yahoo Answers made that change, it was not unusual for people to spend 5-10 minutes writing an answer only to find they couldn't post the answer because it was already resolved. Now instead of their time having been wasted at least their answer does get posted.

To answer the question with another opinion, or the correct answer in some cases. I do it for those lurkers who actually come here for answers. Hopefully there are more of them than the circle-jerk crew that wastes everyone's time here.

For the 2 points and some think just because it has a BA it's not reportable so they answer with a non answer just for the 2 points.

The questions still show up on the list, and many of us are just looking for questions to answer that are within our area of experience/expertise. I, too, and disgusted when I spontaneously answer a question, and then find out it's already been answered and awarded. A waste of my time.
