Should I go on birth control?

Recently had a doctors appointment where she asked me if I've ever been sexually active. I said yes even though its been almost 2 years since and it was only 1 time. (I didn't want to lie) anyways she said I'll need to come in for a pap smear which I'm going for next month now. Anyways I'm sure during the pap she will ask me about birth control. I'm not sure I want it. I've heard it messes with your body but I would really like that backup for when I actually do have sex again just in case the condom fails. What's your experience with it. Pill or other forms? I'm pretty good at taking medication I have one I have to take everyday anyways so I'd just add to it. Or should I wait seen as I haven't had sex in 2 years and don't plan on it right away as I don't have a bf right now. Plus any advice for not being nervous for the pap smear would be great cause I'm a little nervous about someone being down there lol

If you aren't sexually active, and don't plan to be, there is not reason to be on birth control. However, if you are having sex (or plan to) and don't want to get pregnant, birth control is a good option. Every birth control effects a women differently.
