Why do many native Spanish Speakers get mad when others learn or speak spanish as if spanish is some sort of sacred language?

Update:

A man and his wife(U.S Hispanic/Latino) told a non hispanic women "You need to stop speaking OUR language its who we are" you're language is ANGLO you're not us.

WTF does that even mean?

Update 2:

Excluding Spanish People or Spaniards this seems to be prevalent among American Latinos.

Really?....I've never encountered that. Of course I live in a state with a historically large (centuries old) Hispanic population and almost everyone knows at least a little Spanish.

It's probably the recent immigrants who have have an attitude. They seem to think that Spanish is "their" language even though it originated in Europe. It's ridiculous. It would be like Americans thinking that English solely belongs to them.
