That wouldn't happen without first having lengthy debates on the subject with them, if after this they still wanted to join, well that would be up to them.
You can only do your best to help someone, when they are determined to go wrong despite all the facts showing otherwise its their life and they need to learn it their own way.

I'd try to talk sense into them, give them as much information as I could find on this cult, but after that, I'd leave them to it. Adults need to take responsibility for themselves.
