Thoughts on the "Non-binary" or "I identify as a ____" topics regarding gender?
Recently, there's been an uproar of people
"self-identifying" as another gender.
Thoughts on the whole thing?
Personally, I don't have a problem with it, but the topic does confuse me. I hope I don't offend anyone but I don't exactly get the whole "I believe I was born as the wrong gender" thing. No intention to offend anyone, just curious.
What are your thoughts on this?

I don't understand gender. If the concept hadn't been pushed on my from a young age then I would happily go through life with no such concept. Since everyone keeps talking about it, I assume it must be a thing that exists for most people. I don't experience gender so I'm agender.
I trust people's self-identity more than I trust others telling people how they are allowed to identify.
As long as it's not hurting anyone it makes no difference.

Transgender people's experiences are legit and they should be given support. It is a proven neurological condition where the brain is more similar to the opposite gender than their biological sex. It causes immense discomfort with their own body to the point of suicide and that's why transitioning helps.
People identifying with made up genders experience none of that. They simply saw that they deviated from typical masculine/feminine stuff for their gender and made up new words to feel unique. There are only 2 genders sup ported by decades worth of scientific research. Don't believe any articles saying 'gender is a social contrast' the people doing the research are sociologists not biologists or neurologists.

I think it all comes down to expectations on other people obliging your fantasy. If you want to say "I'm a man and I wish I was a woman", I can respect that. But don't say "I'm actually a woman, INSIDE, and you're a bigot for not wanting to have sex with me" (that's demanding others change their sexual orientation for you and that's no different from gay conversion therapy), or "I'm actually a woman, INSIDE, and you're a bigot for not being willing to get naked with me in locker rooms and not wanting to see my naked body, other ladies". It's no different from saying "oh, deep down I'm a dragon", or "deep down, I'm a demon", or "deep down, I'm a wizard". Your fantasies are yours alone and don't demand anyone else play along. Maybe ask if they're willing to play along, maybe they'll say yes, but if they say no, then that's it, you don't push it. And if a day ever comes when technology allows you to REALLY realize your fantasy in a way that is more than just a clever deception only then is it fair to expect others to play along. I think a LOT of people, people who don't identify as "transgender" would be content to try being the opposite sex and maybe stay that way for an extended time if they decided they liked it, if it was super-easy to do it, with no consequences and little expense, like changing your clothes, and then you're getting into the "transhumanist" movement, but then I could come up with better fantasies to try out than that if such a day ever comes.

They are not "self-identifying as another gender."
There are only two genders. One for each sex. They are simply inventing words that classify themselves in a way so as to express their individuality.
For the others that say that they were born in the "wrong body," they are unhappy with who they are, and are saying that they would rather be someone else.
