Near the Khyber Pass a buddy found some cast metal sculptures ( 2 Buddhas, and a Japanese Chin dog) in a dig... How can we find their value?
Diane, this is a Pakistani farmer I met online to help learn English. I will check with the cultural antiques issue.
What if there is no wrongdoing or illegal activity and they have the right to such objects? Is there a market for them and how does the family go about an appraisal?

First make sure you have a legal right to possess them. Cultural antiquities like these are subject to unique restrictions in a lot of countries. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "a dig", Generally digs are sponsored by universities and/or museums in which case anything found belongs to the sponsors so it is theft if you take them. A theft with even more potential for disaster comes from foreigners attempting to leave the country with antiquities . It is called smuggling and leads to many consequences none of which are pleasant.

You will have to get them professionally appraised, which will generally run you between $75 - $100 on the average (your milage may vary). You can find them in your area under "Art Appraisals."
