What happened to all the telephone booths? They have become so rare.?

Vandalism has forced the phone companies to consider then an economic loss and unfeasible in today's world where most have cell phones. They became a bad investment, but for those few who do not have cell phones the lack of commonly available pay phones can be a problem.

I still see them in restaurants from time to time, but yeah, they are virtually extinct now.

I still see some. I guess they think most people have cellphones nowadays.
