Why dont they make 5 round extended mags for .308 blr rifles anymore like they did the originals i can only find 4rnd mags?

The BLR was redesigned in 1981 and pre-81 magazines aren't the same as Model 81s. You need to determine what model you have first and go from that. Not sure why it's a big deal to have a 5 instead of 4 shot magazine in a hunting rifle,I only need one shot anyway,and I don't put 5 shots down range in rapid succession anyway so reloading time isn't an issue. My A-Bolt 30-06 holds 4 in the mag and the 300 WSM holds 3.

Probably because normal bolt action hunting rifles hold 4 rounds and with this fact in mind some states have limited the gun capacity to 4 rounds while hunting so they can eliminate (screw) folks who own those nasty black semi-auto rifles.
If you really want those 5 rounder mags - go search for them at gunbroker.com and ebay...... and be sure to save the search. This way gunbroker or ebay will email you when someone lists a 5 rounder for sale.
