I grew up hunting deer and elk in Idaho. I just realized it's been 36 years ago when I started hunting and bought my first 30-06. I reload for .223,243 Win, 30-06 and 300 WSM. I shoot Browning A-Bolts for good reason. http://video.kxly.com/watch.php?id=13489 Link is a video of my son and I on his first deer hunt. Below are some good cartridge links and info. http://www.chuckhawks.com/rifle_hits_table_syn.htm http://www.chuckhawks.com/gun_game.htm http://www.chuckhawks.com/hunting_bullet_guide1.htm http://www.chuckhawks.com/recoil_table.htm According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics, deer are responsible for or involved in around 1 million collisions with automobiles each year, killing 200 Americans, causing more than 10,000 injuries and $1 billion in vehicle damage.

  • Since YAHOO SUCKS so bad now, what is a better homepage?

YAHOO has screwed with the News Homepage so much that I can't stand it anymore: it is freaking useless for real news, can't be personalized and has become a major frustration to even use.

Not real impressed with Google or MSN as Home Pages for new either so I'm just wondering if there is a good choice for relevant

news that a person can personalize and filter so I never have to deal with a Kardashian or Bieber AGAIN !!!!!

They had "NEWS" from MAY in the freaking headlines again;this is just PATHETIC.

  • 95 Chevy Truck Blend Door Bypass options?

Working on above mentioned truck and have issues with the heat not reaching the defrost side of the blend door/plenum because the Climate Control panel is probably shot. Need a way to over-ride or bypass the electronic control for a few days while the part is on order or I can hunt local yards for panel. Would rather not have to damage the actuator motor assembly itself either-would hate to add more problems onto the list by snapping a nylon gear or over-stopping a motor.

The Climate Control Panel is a known issue and I might be able to trouble shoot it when my friend shows up with truck, but that seems to be a smoked potentiometer or broken connection to a transistor from what I read.

So, if there is a way to get the door to swap from cold to hot without major stress just as a stop-gap measure I'd like to hear about it.

  • Is this the best use of coyote fur you've seen lately?

I was sort of side tracked on something else and stumbled across this. Now if this trend catches on, and who knows, some might use 5 or more coyote tails per pendent. Is that enough incentive to go out in minus 14F weather later this winter?

  • Anyone using IMR 4350 for 243 reloads?

I've been using IMR 4064 and was wondering if anyone has first-hand data or experience with using IMR 4350,especially if you have used both powders before. I'm interested in opinions on the load density, how your groups where setting up,etc. I just hate the idea of loading up 20 plus rounds and not see enough difference to matter.

    H&R Handi-Rifle (great little gun),95 grain Hornady SSTs,CCI 200 LRs,Win brass.

  • Combined Technology Bullets?

Just wondering if anyone has been reloading these in 30-06,300 WSM or .243. I know they are Nosler and I'm thinking they are Accu-Bond equivalent but I was just curious if the Moly coating is going to really effect pressures on my reloads. I've used the Accu-Bonds with good success but the CTs seem to be cheaper most of the time for some reason. I don't mind shooting the Sierras I have now, but the CTs have always interested me. So, anyone with experience using them in reloads let me know your feelings.

  • Check out the Anti-hunting email I got?

This is something I got in my email--just thought I would share: From: Maggie M

Subject: It is so freaking sweet

Message: How you and your son bonded by murdering innocent animals..

Why do you teach your son awful skills like murder? People who hunt are sick people who need help. You obviously hunt because you want to feel dominant to other creatures by taking their lives.

    You Suck

This was in regards to the video my son and I did for a local news channel. Think she went a little overboard? Check out the video http://video.kxly.com/watch.php?id=13489 and let me know what you think. I'm very proud of my son, just a shame we couldn't get a buck for him.

  • Can't we just have a sub-category for people who want to be in the "DARWIN AWARDS" ?

After seeing a question on using a 45 Long Colt cartridge in a 410 shotgun AGAIN, people looking for mercury, 50% of the damn Mall Ninjas not knowing crap about a real weapon, I'm amazed some of these people are even allowed to walk upright. "I have a homemade dart with a barb and it's stuck in me" has to be right up there, but at least he got it out of the dog! My 11 year old knows more about weapons, shooting, ethics and morality than some adults do.

When people ask about wildlife harassment, like what happens when I shoot a bear with a 22LR from far away, or can I kill a 1800 pound Cape Buffalo with a 25-06 it just shows how ill prepared these people are. At least they are asking but the lack of knowledge is just horrific. So, IF Yahoo reorganizes can we please have a Darwin section for these type questions to drop into.

  • IMR 4350 reloading WSM cartridges 300 WSM specifically?

I've been using H414 with 165 grain bullets in my A-Bolt and was wondering if anyone has been reloading with IMR 4350. I'm OK with accuracy and speed (4 shots at about .75 to 1.5 inch,3050 FPS), but would like to use a single powder for the 300 WSM, 30-06 and the 243 I load for. I'm going to start up reloading again this weekend and was going to do some with 4350 anyway, but would like to hear from others on case capacity percentage, overall results, etc. I did try Varget but wasn't happy with it. I'm pretty sure H414 and Winchester 760 are pretty much the same powder, and I didn't like how 4831 was going to be a compressed load almost from the start. Thanks
