Good low-fat homemade dog food diet for dog with pancreatitis?
She has already been treated by vet and is healed back up. Vet advised starting her on a low-fat diet to prevent it later on. She is 8y/o large breed mutt who is about 10 lbs overweight (vet said not very overweight but enough to be considered). She has been on Diamond Naturals Chicken and Rice
I'd like to start making her food at home rather than buy a dog food. Something low fat. Any good recipes would be great. She's going to start being fed smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.

Tempted to experiment in the kitchen? Save it for yourself. It’s best not to improvise when you cook for your dog. Even the best recipes often don’t provide enough of certain nutrients, such as calcium.
Making dog food that meets your individual dog's nutrition needs isn't as simple as you might think. Many dog food recipes fall short in certain nutrients, especially iron, copper, calcium, and zinc. If the proportions aren't correct you may cause more harm than good.
The best way to make sure a recipe has what it takes is to choose one created by an expert with training in dog nutrition. That might be a certified pet nutritionist or a PhD-trained animal nutritionist with experience making pet food. Your vet should be able to point you in the right direction.
Your pet needs protein, fat and carbohydrates. He also needs calcium, and essential fatty acids.
And if that's not enough to consider, your dog has a health problem, pancreatitis, he may need a special low fat diet. You may need a pet nutrition expert to create custom recipes.
Keep in mind that all diet changes must be done gradually over a period of ten days to two weeks.
