What size diode(s do I need for a DC 48V 5A Max wire and or D.C. 12V 5A Max wire?
Would over rated diode work? What would be the most efficient and or cheapest? Or does it matter?
Thank You...

Your bulb won't draw anywhere near 5 amps so the 1N5401 I suggested earlier will work just fine, very common part number, available at any electronics store or online. If you want less voltage drop and an over-kill rating you could search for "10 amp 100v schottky diode" online.
