Hello there! I also have severe anxiety (socially) and pretty sad bouts of depression frequently, so maybe i can be of help, because I am also in your shoes.

    1. I have seen a shrink before and it doesn't help. They just sit there and listen to your problems until you realize that all you're doing is feeding them money while they just sit there and nod while you talk about your problems and give you half-a**ed advice. I would not advise a therapist.

    2. Don't do drugs or alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant, and drugs can be too. I know how intimidating it is, you know, to get high or drunk to forget, but I'm afraid it harms you and makes your mental health even worse than it was before.

    3. Surround yourself with positivity. Whether it be friends or a change of scenery. My friends aren't the best, and that made my life worse. Despite my horrible social anxiety and timidness, I continue to TRY to make friends, no matter how hard it is for me to speak up. TRY TRY TRY and TRY again until you finally meet someone positive and kind enough to be your friend. Don't stand for abusive people.

DON"T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME COMPLETELY ALONE, THAT TRIGGERS SUICIDAL THOUGHTS/ACTIONS DEPENDING ON HOW YOU COPE WITH ANTISOCIALNESS. For me, it's a living hell to be alone for too long, and i'm a big introvert.

if you'd like to, you can email me if you need anyone to talk to about any of this.

All you can do is read and study it. Get some Alice Miller - she was the best psychologist I ever read. And she deals with the very beginning of life where you'll find the real cause of your anxiety/depression. Get these two books to start with - "The Drama of the Gifted Child" and "For Your Own Good".

In those you'll get clues - and if possible be discussing these with somebody. That isn't therapy, but it's nice.
