US Navy or US Air Force?
Hi. I m a 22 year old guy, I live in Military City, USA AKA San Antonio, Texas. Im wanting to join the military but im unsure which branch I want to join. I ve taken my asvab a year and a half ago just in the case of me wanting to join happened, I would have it out of the way already lol I m very passionate in the medical field. So with that in mind Id want to join the Navy and pursue an enlistment as a Corpsman and either go FMF or any other specialty I can get into. If I go Air Force I d be open to any medical jobs that are returned open are returned the time. I know it s much harder to get a job I want in the AF than in the Navy. What I m unsure about is if Id want to sacrifice the awesome quality of life in the AF over possibly getting my dream job as a Corpsman and take a hit in the quality of life aspect. I initially was set on going to the Navy because of the extensive traveling around the world they do, but I ve heard being a Corpsman, they don t ever get deployed on ships, which I find a bummer because that was a big problem on going Navy. Thank yall in advance. Also I d prefer answers from people that know info on each branch and/or job based from if you are in these fields, personal experience, etc. Just sone I know I m getting an answer from the source.

the ASVAB is only good for 2 years so you are going to have to retake it anyway.
forget trying to lock in one job. one, you will only be offered a job that is OPEN that you qualify for. ( and the AF doesn't even assign you that job until BMT is pretty much over, way too late to back out).
do NOT believe all that hype about the AF having the best QoL. it is NOT TRUE, and furthermore, is the most anal retentive of the 5 services( you literally need permission to do everything and anything, whereas in the other you are told what is off limits)
even sticking with your preferred career path of medical.. newsflash: they are pretty much all joint now which means you can be assigned to an Army hospital in Honolulu or an AF hospital in San Antonio.
EVERY single US Navy vessel has at least one Corpsman on board. now granted, for the most part that will not even be a possibility until you re enlist, are an E5 and have attended IDC school, but Carriers and Gators do have Quad Zero newbs assigned as well.
so first, make sure you are actually qualified to enlist( about 80% of all males between 18-35 are NOT). then find out what jobs you are eligible to do and THEN decide which branch has the most to offer.

In the USAF you get assigned to a base and most likely will stay at that base for your first tour. Not much travel.

US Navy............the travel is awesome. Get the right foward deployed ship, in Japan.........and you'll be loving life.
