Is it really so bad if a bipolar person likes to get drunk?
I mean diagnosed bipolar by a Psychiatrist.
Just wondering as some people seem to think I should go to AA, but I'm not an Alcoholic, I just like to occasionally get drunk and I got into the habit of getting drunk every week (but never before a work day), and I realize that is a bit much and I really do plan to at least slow way down and I know I can because I'm not physically dependant on it.

If your taking medication for bipolar disorder then the alcohol cancels it out and could even be a dangerous mix. You have no idea what your doing to your brain which is already not working properly. Getting drunk kills millions of brain cells each time and your screwed up enough already.

It's bad for anyone to get drunk, not just a bipolar person. Drinking a lot of alcohol and getting drunk reflects very poorly on a persons character, and it shows that they lack common sense and good judgement.

Yes....alcohol can send those of us with Bipolar..(I am Bipolar 1) into mania!
Alcohol in ANY amount if a no-no for all Bipolar.
Of course if one has meds too...it is extra dangerous!
