I don't feel like there are any modern examples of that, if anything, they've been moving towards the right.
American "liberals" are not leftist in any shape or form, when comparing to a world scale of politics. They are, in reality, moderately right. American conservatives are a little bit further to the right.

Look at Hillary Clinton's platform before and after the primaries - she shifted some towards Sanders.

They moved far enough to the left that they though an old commie, Bernie Sanders, was a mainstream Democrat.

The blue collar Kennedy Democrats who put Trump in office. Although they will be swinging back once they see how they have been conned.
