I am worried that my grandmother is in Hell. She did not get the last rites read over her so she did not die in a state of grace.?

Update:

I guess she is burning endlessly now.

Your grandmother is not in a place ot eternal suffereing or torture. Hell is nothing more than the common grave, death.

Nobody who has read the Bible about how God graciously saves sinners from hell could have any fears about a Catholic ritual being the determining factor in hell being avoided.

Well, not if they read it and believed it, that is.

Lots of people have read the Bible and felt it was lacking in a certain... contribution towards salvation that humans alone can provide. They like the idea that God will save sinners from hell, and they may even agree that it needed Jesus to leave Heaven to become a sinless human to deal with the matter legally. Yet they are offended that salvation is entirely of God, due to no merit on the part of the sinner. They think people ought to be able to contribute towards their own salvation. This is where the Catholic church has come along and added to the finished work of Christ on the cross. Well, they try to. They cannot. But millions of people have been told by them that they must do this, and that, and the next thing, to eventually avoid hell. If they fall short of the mark, they will end up in purgatory and need prayers of many good people to lessen their time in there.

I dare say the idea of having to receive the last rites at death is another Catholic ploy to keep people toeing the Catholic line, staying in the good book of Catholicism right up till their death. No assurance is offered by Catholicism, is it? No confidence in Christ is maintained. It all depends on doing what the church says you must do to eventually escape hell.

Listen, if you grandmother put all her faith in what Jesus did on the cross to be forgiven by God, she is forgiven. She entered into a state of grace at the moment she had saving faith in Jesus. And nobody, and nothing, can take that grace away from her, because it is God-given - freely, to undeserving sinners.

Catholics don't believe that Hell is eternal burning but separation from God. Catholics also don't believe simply not getting that last sacrament separates one from God. Not being in a state of grace is simply being separated from God while on earth. That can happen from rejecting God or committing a mortal sin and not repenting.

The last rites aides in salvation but it neither causes salvation nor does not getting it cause damnation.
