heater won;t start?
help. home furnace won;t come on. gas ingnites through 3 burners. burning gas plume is blown into 3 chanbers whcich obviously heats something and then the blower kicks in. PROBLEM: only one burner catches fire. i can get the other 2 to start by blowing on the burner mechnism. is there some sort of sensor that needs to be replaced? repair guy simply said, 'time to spend $4k on a new one. unit is rouhgly 15 years old and worked fine up until now. thanx.

interesting that both of you said have a tehcnician diagnose/fix the problem. well, damn the torpedos...I.SHUT OFF THE GAS (easy to do with that vavle on the side), took apart, cleaned with very fine sandpaper the portion that was having the trouble, and re-assembled the entire thing. the connectors for each of the 2 carbon monoxide sensors also got a cleaning. guess what happened no, my place didn;t blow up and yes, i still have my eyebrows. what happened is that it works FLAWLESSLY now!!!! next fall when the company that did the yearly service on it calls, i'll be sure to relay this info. and recall that they were just out in dec 2016 to try and get it working. the guy told me i needed a BRAND NEW system. hhmmmmmmm

I agree with justme. As a retired tech, I can tell you are playing with fire. You have raw gas going in and that could be a problem. You have a dirty flame tube or dirt in the orifices and if you would have in cleaned and inspected once a year or two, you would not have this problem. I don't think this is a DIY project.
