I put a metal roof on my house in March 2015. I live in New Hampshire, since the attic is vented it does not make it any warmer in winter, however the house does stay cooler in the summer. After researching before I had it done, it says that shingles get hot and hold the heat and radiate back into the house for hours after the sun has gone down, metal gives up it's heat quickly when the sun goes down. I got mine in a matte black, it is the true standing seam so no worries about leaks and the roof sheds snow so I don't have to rake it. 2 other big pluses. so I spent less running the AC during warm months

Here often on sheet metal roofs. You put up your trusses. Next a layer of heavy tin foil with bubbles in it. Leave a little sag in that. Then put the sheet metal over that. Leave some vent space at the crown cover for hot air to escape. Some at the eves for cooler air to rise threw. This keeps a house cool. Also a split bamboo ceiling so some cracks there for heat to rise threw from the home. Vent attic well at both ends for heat escape. Down stair will stay much cooler. This is tropics here. Most do not have A/C. here.

First it is a metal roof. Secondly, it is not an energy saving device; metal is a better thermal conductor than asphalt shingles so this will not reduce heat transfer. However, it may not absorb as much heat from the sun in summer, making the attic cooler and thereby reduce Air Conditioner demand but I suspect this will NOT be a significant amount.

First its a Metal Roof. I think you heating bill would stay about the same but cooling might go down a little as a metal roof is more heat reflective the asphalt shingles. Any change will be so small you might not notice it.

It is best to have as much insulation in you attic as that is where your savings will be.
