Is god getting too much credit?
I am not a religious man, and I will not put religion down, so before you answer, please do not call me closed minded. It's just a question. I would just like hearing another view.
So how much thanks should we give god? Should we not give ourselves a pat on the back rather than giving god all the praise?
A few examples.
If I had an accident, and went into hospital and survived. I'd thank the doctors etc for saving me. Yet a religious person would thank god for keeping that person alive.
If I got through a really tough time, I'd give myself a pat on the back and that i've been strong enough to get myself through it. Religious people would thank god for giving them the strength.
I thank my parents for giving birth to me and putting me on this earth. Religious people thank god for putting them on this earth.
So my question is, do religious people give god too much gratitude & praise that they should actually be giving themselves and others. Does it take away their self-worth by giving god all of the credit for everything.

Frequently we overlook the physical effort to make something happen.
The Christians are speaking of the spiritual effort for an event.
Both deserve gratitude.

Ultimately it is God that gives us the knowledge and wisdom to do his will. You may not believe this now, but in time you'll know the truth and the truth will set you free.

The first person to produce a single tiny little piece of verifiable evidence for any god will become world famous and mega rich!
Academia states that in the absence of any sort of evidence of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable evidence is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.

No it doesnt. It adds to our self worth because we have a God who loves us and is a part of our lives. Crediting an ultimate God with the ultimate outcome does not mean we have no appreciation for what other travelers through life do for us. Christians love everyone and it is not the goal of Christianity to belittle anyones efforts including our own.

Hardly enough would be more accurate pet. God is worthy of honour, glory and praise because He created all that is seen and unseen.

When the shoe fits I wear it would be God's answer for we know God did not stop the accident but he kept us alive afterward until the one could help us arrive.......for I bet before the accident God was not called but afterward.......

No. We don't give God too much credit. How much is God really worthy of ? He really is worthy of all honour glory praise and worship. God created the world and all. He owns it all, and therefore He can do as He likes with what is His. But we know He is love and that He loves each person. That's why He came amongst us in the form of a human - the man Christ Jesus. He died to take the punishment due to us for our sins. And rose again thereby proving His power over death and hell for all who believe. He died in our place, so that we don't have to. That's how much He loves us.
He gives us credit when we do according to His righteous will. God is worthy of all our praise and worship. If we were to try to give Him all the praise He is worthy of, our worship of Him would never end.
God causes things to happen and often works through people, for their benefit and His name sake.
