Is my ancestry half of everything from each of my parents?

We ve always said that since my mom is half Mexican (and I know that by itself is not an ethnic group), each of the four kids are one-quarter Mexican.

But is that true? Or could I "be more Mexican" than my siblings or vice versa, considering I get half of my genes from each parent?

We are all a big mix, your mother will not have been pure Mexican as no such thing, your father may have been part Mexican

Yes, everyone gets half of their DNA from their each of their parents.

So yes, you could say you are a quarter Mexican, though of course, as you already know, it is not an ethnicity or race. It would be like saying you're a quarter American. But that is good for mostly everyone... they know one of your grandparents was Mexican, which is the point basically.

Half of your genes come from each parent, yes. Your siblings will be the same way. PHENOtypes (as opposed to GENOtypes) can be different.
