Why do people believe in God?

It makes a huge difference whether we believe in the existence of a Creator. If he does exist, then surely he must have a purpose in making this earth and creating human life on it. It would also be reasonable to expect that such a wise and powerful Creator would determine the future of this earth and of the human family. So our attitude and actions toward this Creator could make a big difference to our future.

However, if there is no God, then the future prospect for humanity is quite dismal. Based on the record of history, it would be a continuing trouble-filled existence, or worse. If there is no unseen Creator who has a purpose for us, then it would seem to make sense to “eat and drink, for tomorrow we are to die.” (1 Cor. 15:32)

all the messed up things in the world were caused my man not god. god gave each and everyone of a free will and mind to choose what we want to do, those who choose bad doing things like that do so on their own choosing. god is real there is too much in everyday life not to believe.

the bad one will be punished if they don't ask to be forgiven. we all will meet god one day and be heal accountable for our sins. best to believe rather than not

Because the Christian God is real. Jesus IS the truth. Soo many witnesses testify to the FACT that Jesus lives.

Those who don't believe are listening to the devil, Satan, and he's the god of this world. He causes all the pain and misery.

If people deny Satan, they can let Jesus in. Sadly, many listen to Satan as they prefer to sin.

Because people are scared and feel the need to believe in something/someone looking over and after them. It brings comfort albeit made up.

Because the True God is real. The true God is infinite and beyond the mind of man fully to fathom. The creature could never hope to become equal to his Creator or understand all the workings of His mind. Even though there are those who are called ‘gods,’ whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many ‘gods’ and many ‘lords,’ there is actually to us one God the Father.” (1Corinthians 8:5, 6) Jehovah is the Almighty God, the only true God, and he rightfully exacts exclusive devotion. (Exodus 20:5) His servants must keep others out of, or excluded from, his proper place in their hearts and actions. He requires his worshipers to worship him with spirit and truth. (John 4:24) They should stand in reverent awe of him alone.—Isaiah 8:13; Hebrews 12:28, 29.

Because they choose to.

Campbell 2:5,2017 -- Evil, sin, and misfortune are yours to permit, avoid, or do something about.

They will never be God’s to eliminate just because ‘you’ don’t happen to like them.

You seem like the kind who blames others for the smell of your farts ... you should continue hating God.

Early indoctrination, for the most part.

Life is cruel yet God is not. We live in a fallen world with wicked sinners, of course it's terrible! But God did not make it this way. We did, and the devil and all his minions. Jesus came once to save our souls and he will come again to redeem the earth. Believe it! And be patient and wait for His coming.

If there never was a God, then there would not be the opposite of those things you listed.

Because it's every man's God-given duty to do so
