Who really deserves the credit for these designs?

In recent years, scientists and engineers have, in a very real sense, allowed plants and animals to instruct them. (Job 12:7, 8) They are studying and mimicking the design features of various creatures—a field known as biomimetics—in an effort to create new products and improve the performance of existing ones.

Learning From the Whale’s Flippers

As the whale slices through the water, these tubercles increase lift and reduce drag. How? The journal Natural History explains that the tubercles make the water accelerate over the flipper in an organized, rotating flow, even when the whale is rising at very steep angles.

What practical applications does this discovery promise? Aircraft wings based on the design would evidently need fewer wing flaps or other mechanical devices to alter airflow. Such wings would be safer and easier to maintain. Biomechanics expert John Long believes that someday soon “we may well see every single jetliner with the bumps of humpback whale flippers.”

Have you noticed that planes don't flap their wings? And that a lot of developers tried to follow the "natural" model. Applying research from animals to man's machines is hard work and God's examples are suggestions, not worked out methods - biomechanics is tricky.

I believe your questions asks for credit to the original designer. Many today refuse to even give any consideration to the idea of an original creator. That seems to be anathema to them. Therefore be prepared to get answers from those who think they are wise.

Note how the Bible gives credit where credit is do. "what may be known about God is clearly evident among them, for God made it clear to them. 20 For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable. 21 For although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him, but they became empty-headed in their reasonings and their senseless hearts became darkened. 22 Although claiming they were wise, they became foolish. Romans 1:19-22

Are these wise men really empty headed? Or do they make themselves his way by not even giving consideration to the idea they may possibly be wrong? You can answer that on your own.

See this publication and go to the heading "Who designed it First?" You will be amazed at what you find in science.

I'm not sure if ANY design or scientific idea just comes out of thin air with no inspiration from anything. We always build on what we already know IMO, put existing things and ideas together in new ways, take advantage of opportunities others may not have had. So anyone that takes full credit for an invention or idea, or at least claims that they were the only one smart enough to ever think of it, is being unrealistic IMO.

We already do. They are called vortex generators on the surfaces of an aircraft wing. they are positioned just ahead of the control surfaces: Ailerons, elevators and rudder s. They are also on some ships.

This technology is also being used in racing yachts.
