Do I still need to file income tax? And as a independent?

Update:

Well, I'm a vet. Living on my own going to school and using my Post-9/11 GI Bill and FAFSA. However, I haven't worked in over a year and it falls outside the time range. So do I still file tax and can I my status still be consider independent?

Doesn't sound like you have any reason to file unless you had other income you didn't mention, un;ess you pay some of your eligible school expenses out of pocket. But sounds like you're not a dependent

Independent isn't a category. Sounds like you don't have any taxable income. If you don't then no need to file.

If you earned income you need to file.

It all depends on your last years income. You can call the IRS and ask them.

If Trump doesn't pay any taxes, I see no reason why anyone else needs to do so.
