with the exception of all you hear in the news about the Catholic Church, what problems do you have with it?

I am a Catholic and I have heard all of the arguments imaginable about why people have problems with the Catholic Church. Most come from what people hear on the news. So tell me, from a Biblical standpoint, what problems do you have with the Catholic Church? Let's talk civilly about this and try to get an understanding of each other. it's about time, don't you think?

Update:

In the Mormon scriptures it says it is bad to baptize babies. All little children are saved because of the atonement of Jesus. Also the Bible says forbidding to marry is a teaching of demons.

Christian churches existed at the time of Christ!

MATTHEW 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."

The English word "church" is derived from the Greek word kyriakon, which means something belonging to the Lord.

"`Church' in the New Testament, however, renders Greek ekklesia, which mostly designates a local congregation of Christians and never a building.

Long after the crucifixion the ROMANs hijacked Christianity and renamed it the Holy ROMAN Catholic Church. Not in the Holy lands but entirely in ITALY!

Then they hijacked pagan methods of worship against what the bible teaches!

Thou shall have no other gods! Exodus 20:2-3, Exodus 23:13, Exodus 23:24, Exodus 23:32, Exodus 34:14.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)

    Deuteronomy 27:15

`Cursed is the man who makes an idol or a molten image, an abomination to the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret.' And all the people shall answer and say, `Amen.'

So it matters not whether Mary and the Saints are worshiped as gods, idols, intermediaries or anything else it still goes against God's direct orders!

Catholics keep trying to claim only they can be Christian and that is why Christianity has been split into over 39,500 different denominations, sects and cults setting Christian against Christian and Christians against everyone else!

    God's work? Hardly!

It must be the Devil and the Antichrist working together to divide, conquer and destroy Christianity from the inside!

I am Protestant in a dominantly Catholic country, so I see many good things happening in the Catholic Church. You asked about the problems I haves, so I'll only focus on that.

There are the "usual" disagreements (pope, saints, holy images and statues, 2 or 7 sacraments, is the bread and wine literally the body of Jesus, etc etc...), but the biggest thing that hinders me from becoming a Catholic is what you believe about salvation.

What you believe (correct me if I'm wrong) is that Salvation = faith + good deeds + recieving Sacraments.

We believe that Salvation happeny ONLY through faith.

Romans 3:28: " For we maintain that a person is justified by faith APART from the works of the law. "

Yes, we believe that a (wo)man of faith will bear fruits, they will hate sin, and they will change their life to do more good deeds... In other words a "godly" life is a proof of faith, but it is your faith that saves you, not your works.

For me it is extremely important that my Salvation is ONLY the work of God, because I can't work my way in to Heaven.

The Vatican revealed in 2014 that over the past decade, it has defrocked 848 priests who raped or molested children and sanctioned another 2,572 with lesser penalties, providing the first ever breakdown of how it handled the more than 3,400 cases of abuse reported to the Holy See since 2004.

I would assume all priests are pedophiles or abusers. I would never trust one with a child.

Spending millions of dollars to protect pedophiles is probably the biggest one. The second biggest problem I have is spending millions of dollars to promote hate and intolerance. I will give them some cred though for at least figuring out that a literal interpretation of ancient words is stupid as Forest Gump.

I know an ex-nun who was working as a missionary in Africa, but left the church because she could not tolerate the church teaching people in an AIDS ravaged area, that condoms do not help stop AIDS.

Catholics don't practice what they preach. God commands that Christians love their neighbors. Does that mean you should support War/violence and murder them?

Fornications, Adultery and Homsexuality are sins, why is it ok to marry people of the same sex? It is not ok to God.

People are living independently from God and setting their own standard for right and wrong. Do you really think God Approves,he destroyed cities in Bible times for that.

Happy to help (if you really want the pesimistic truth).

Backstory: God gave the Isrealites a whole bunch of rules and rituals similar to why a parent gives small children house rules and routines: to keep peace and courtesy in the house. Once the children grow up, they drop the rules but take the ESSENCE of them with them into adult life.

Jesus came to shut down the religion that God Himself had set up and get us into a relationship with God through Himself. The religious people took offense and called for His torture and murder; all the while REALLY BELIEVING they were doing God's work.

A few generations went by and some people said "We like what that guy Jesus taught. Let's set up a NEW religion arrrround his teachings and call it the 'Catholic Church." or the 'religion of Christianity.'

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

That exclusive statement means the only way is the person: Jesus.

    It's time to grow up.

OK, from a biblical standpoint. First, in the bible, your "god" condemns homosexuality, and says that homosexuals should be stoned to death. There is no escape from this fact. Secondly, in direct defiance of the biblical word of your "god", the Catholic church has willingly been infested with homosexuals for centuries, and in recent times has attempted to protect pedophile homosexual priests from being exposed for what they are, and prosecuted. As a result of the crimes committed by homosexual priests, the church has paid out over a BILLION dollars in settlements to victims of homosexual pedophilia since 2002. How "biblical" is that? Additionally, it is now known that Pope Pius XII was fully aware of the Holocaust and refused to speak out about this horrific atrocity, expose it, or do anything to bring about an end to it. He chose to be silent. What part of your bible would justify this?

Look up residential schools. That was a pretty recent atrocity. Look to Africa and their AIDS situation, 100% due to the dopey Pope.

There are many others. They are just a criminal organization, the Italian mob is patterned after them.
