Thats a great question and there are several things people and groups can do to help veterans returning to civilian life I think that really don't take a lot of resources or money. First you have to remember that some are coming out of the military where everything is different and there is no longer any control over them and little structure. Some really just flounder because of that and not dealing with or making that transition then from structure and control to one without that. Being a good listener to and for them and also being a helpful resource about who is hiring and where they might have a decent shot at finding a job. Also reaching out to them and making them aware of various civic and social programs that are in their area that can further help them assimilate back into society and making new friends and connections. Some will be out in front of this and not need any help but others you have to remember entered at 18 right out of highschool and then at 22-25 find themselves out of the military in a world that is somewhat unfamiliar in some ways to them that has no structure, no real specific road map of how to get where they want to get to and what they want to be, and maybe not knowing much of anyone anymore where they are now settling.

Any job in the military that has a civilian equivalent should be taught in such a way that the person can do the job after separation. X-Ray Technician for example.

Take the TAP class and actually pay attention in it. Use the information they hand out, the books, the Internet, local worksource options and everything else that's available.
Those who only did 4 years have a way easier time now than before. Many maybe deployed once if at all compared to the numerous times done by those before.
