what does an R certificate movie mean ?

    In the US, it means that if you are under 17, to see it, you need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, many theaters are fairly lenient on this and will let you in if you appear to be 17 or older. Some, though, may ask to see id for proof of age. If you do not have proper id, they could turn you away.

    R (Restricted) under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.

    R rated movies will contain adult content such as nudity, profanity, drug/alcohol abuse, sex etc
