We are given examples of ones who were awakened from the sleep of death in the Bible. Jesus himself likened death to being asleep. John 11:11 Jesus actually showed people that he had the power from his Father, Jehovah, to awaken us from the sleep of death. John 11:38-44 Lazarus had been asleep in death four days before Jesus came. There is nothing said about Lazarus being anything but dead. He was actually awaiting what the Bible calls a "resurrection" day. John 11:21-24 and John 5:28 and 29 What must we do if we are to look forward to resurrection day and everlasting life? John 17:3 "This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." The only source we have to find the truth about "the only true God" and Jesus Christ is the Bible. Jehovah's Witnesses are the only religion in the world, that I know of, who preach ''the good new of God's Kingdom" as Jesus did and offer FREE personal Bible studies to all sorts of people from over 240 countries of over 800 languages. See for yourself the magnitude of the preaching on the international website, jw.org and About Us > Activities, About Us > Conventions and About Us > Frequently Asked Questions. Watch videos such as Why Study the Bible? Does God have a Name? and What is God's Kingdom? Most people have Bibles but fail to pick them up and read them. The Bible the witnesses use is the most accurate and easy to understand of all the modern Bible's on earth according to the research done by the game show Jeopardy. It is The New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. If, after you have looked into the website, you like what you learn and believe it, you can request your FREE personal Bible study online. Hello,
The Bible does not support the belief of an after-life. If we refer back to the first man and woman Adam and Eve and the hope that they had was to live forever on earth. Once they sinned they no longer had that hope.
In the book of Genesis 2:17 Jehovah God said to Adam, that the day he was to eat from that tree that he would DIE. It does not say any further conditions that he would experience.
If you then turn to the book of Ecclesiastes 9:5 it explains the condition of the dead. That the dead is conscience of nothing, so it would be contradictory to "Live" in an after-life if we are not conscience.
If you get time I would like to refer you to the JW.org website to find answers to the question "What happens to Us When We Die?"
I hope this was helpful!

Here is Wikipedia's input on the subject of an "Afterlife."
"The afterlife (also referred to as life after death or the hereafter) is the concept of a realm, or the realm itself (whether physical or transcendental), in which an essential part of an individual's identity or consciousness continues to exist after the death of the body. According to various ideas about the afterlife, the essential aspect of the individual that lives on after death may be some partial element, or the entire soul or spirit, of an individual, which carries with it and may confer personal identity or, on the contrary, may not, as in Indian nirvana. Belief in an afterlife, which may be naturalistic or supernatural, is in contrast to the belief in oblivion after death.
In some popular views, this continued existence often takes place in a spiritual realm, and in other popular views, the individual may be reborn into this world and begin the life cycle over again, likely with no memory of what they have done in the past. In this latter view, such rebirths and deaths may take place over and over again continuously until the individual gains entry to a spiritual realm or Otherworld. Major views on the afterlife derive from religion, esotericism and metaphysics.
Some belief systems, such as those in the Abrahamic tradition, hold that the dead go to a specific plane of existence after death, as determined by God, or other divine judgment, based on their actions or beliefs during life. In contrast, in systems of reincarnation, such as those in the Indian religions, the nature of the continued existence is determined directly by the actions of the individual in the ended life, rather than through the decision of another being." End of Wikipedia quotation.
JWs do not believe in an "afterlife" for the simple reason that the Bible clarifies for all of us that DEAD MEANS DEAD. Period. Any speech about the lord and the Archangel's horn and Christians being taken to heaven is all subject to the fact that those Christians need to die first. As Paul verified in this writings to the Thessalonica Congregation: “The Lord himself will descend from heaven with a commanding call, with an archangel’s voice and with God’s trumpet, and those who are dead in union with Christ will rise first.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16)
Also the Rapture which most Christians are awaiting is going to be somewhat of a disappointment for them; the numbers are somewhat limited and will not allow all who are clamouring for a place in heaven to be able to obtain one.
The scriptures speak of only two repeat two eventualities for the people of earth who gain God's favour:
1). A small number will attain to the heavenly life. They are 144,000 in total. Other than that relatively small number of former humans, heaven contains Jehovah God, the Almighty, His Son, Jesus Christ, myriads upon myriads of angels, seraphs, cherubs. [This should tell you also how small will be the Rapture when it finally occurs.]
2). Many millions who lived in centuries past and who weren’t Jehovah’s Witnesses will also have an opportunity for salvation. The Bible explains that in God’s promised new world, “"there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."” (Acts 24:15) This part of God's future purposes for the earth is to be as humans. not as spirit creatures.
Additionally, many now living may yet begin to serve God, and they too will gain salvation. In any case, it’s not our job to judge who will or will not be saved. That assignment rests squarely in Jesus’ hands.—John 5:22, 27.

The Bible says: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5; Psalm 146:4) Therefore, when we die, we cease to exist. The dead can’t think, act, or feel anything.
“To dust you will return”
God explained what happens when we die when he spoke to the first man, Adam. Because Adam was disobedient, God said to him: “Dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19) Before God created Adam “out of dust from the ground,” Adam did not exist. (Genesis 2:7) Likewise, when Adam died, he returned to dust and ceased to exist.
The same thing happens to those who die now. Speaking of both humans and animals, the Bible says: They have all come to be from the dust, and they are all returning to the dust.”—Ecclesiastes 3:19, 20.
Death is not necessarily the end of everything
The Bible often compares death to sleep. (Psalm 13:3; John 11:11-14; Acts 7:60) A person who is fast asleep is unaware of what is happening around him. Likewise, the dead are not conscious of anything. Yet, the Bible teaches that God can awaken the dead as if from sleep and give them life again. (Job 14:13-15) For those whom God resurrects, death is not the end of everything.

No, I believe in the resurection, and a life on earth when Jesus is King. - John 5: 28,29: Psalm 37:9-11.

No. As a matter of principle I never allow myself to "believe in" anything. I either know a true fact or not, but I never merely pretend to know what I actually don't. Not only do I not pretend to have an afterlife, but there isn't the slightest evidence that conscious awareness is even possible without a living nervous system and brain.
I first abandoned ancient Roman religious propaganda when I was nine and, by twelve I knew I could never go back to pretending my parents and the rest of their church weren't superstitious fools.

If you were a Christian. You would know there is an Afterlife. You will stand before the Lord Jesus upon your death, For the first judgment. If you are not a Christian? You will end up in Hell for all Eternity. If you are a Christian? Then you will be in Heaven for all Eternity.. The choice between the two is very simple and Free to chose from !! Please chose wisely. !!

No, there's no such thing as souls, spirits, ghosts, gods, or magic.
