When Liberals saw electoral votes piling up for Trump on election nite was it something they honestly did not expect to happen?

They should have known that the Middle America states were sympathetic to Trump. What took them by surprise was that it was almost every single state in the middle of the country voting for him.

It went contrary to the polls and I'm pretty sure Trump was surprised.

I was cautiously optimistic for Hillary. I thought Trump had a chance, since the polls were within the margin of error. I expected most of the East Coast to go for her, but when I was watching the return on television and they were slow to call states like North Carolina and Virginia, I had that feeling that it was not going to be a Clinton victory. When Ohio went for Trump, I knew it was over.

Not really, actually. I am a liberal and I was not particularly surprised. I knew the Dems had alienated a lot of working whites when Clinton got the nod over Sanders and that that would be a potentially devastating thing for them come the election.

Yeah, they were so stuck in their echo chamber they forgot that he had a very successful campaign.

I can only imagine it must have felt similar to sad Romney voters.
