Ex-atheists...why were you atheists to begin with?

What was your reason for being an atheist prior to your respective conversions to some form or theism?

Update:

*form OF theism.

Update 2:

It's a spinoff of this question recently asked, which led me to wonder what exact position these ex-atheists had prior to conversion. I'm wondering if they were simply nontheistic and hadn't ever chosen one or thought about religion much, and then converted for various reasons.

Always have been, always will be. The Bible is like a fairy tale book. The tooth fairy, santa clause, the boogy man, etc. Someone wanted to get people to follow him and here so many people are. How can you read that bullshit and NOT see that its fake? I know everyone needs something to believe in, but damn! Use your brain, even just a little bit! THINK all of the **** that book says and determine if there is ANY way that it could be true? I am smart enough to realize that everything in the bible is absolute bull ****. Mary wasn't a VIRGIN, she was a WHORE, that's why she got pregnant without having sex with Joseph. DUH. Eve was made from Adams rib, from his side. So in order to be the first people on earth, and the basic creators of humanity, aside from "god" That's either asexuality, or incest. Everyone is brother and sister, yet we are all getting married right? Incest. Yet it's bad to be gay? Why does that make sense? Moses parted waters? This is magic, but believing Harry Potter to be true is childish and crazy.

Atheism means DOES NOT BELEIVE THE RELIGOUS CLAIMS.

This means its totally possible for SOME atheists to find something they DO BELIEVE.

The idea that all atheists think there is no god is incorrect, and not really what atheism means.

ME I see historically 4000 gods created by man, i see historic rituals and ideas in religion, i see historic and set at the time thinking in their gods, so i think on that basis they are making FALSE claims, but does a god exist i dont know, probably not based on mankind invented 4000 of them to start with :D

Anyhow the reason is some atheists like me will NOT believe any religion ever based on that, others as i stated might find one they do.

As a child, my idea about God is that He would show instant responses to every good things, bad things, and wishes I've done. It became apparent that it was not the case. Instead of changing that idea about how God works, I chose to completely abandon my religious belief.

Atheists don't become ex atheists, they're free thinkers for life.

  • I joined the Jehovah's Witnesses for a short time in the hopes of meeting the long brown curly haired lady who I saw standing on various street corners around the world. She was standing next to her religious paraphernalia with a beautiful smile. I had to quit when I found out they were anti-American commies.
